The Dying Tree

“The Dying Tree and The Broken Heart”
Dying tree
I’ll break open my heart
Pour the blood upon you
-Water you-
Become a part of you
-Eternal love-
Just me and you

This was done in watercolor on a 11” x 15” paper. This picture for some reason is one of my most popular, maybe its the image itself or the poem I have written that impacts you the most.

Hand Of The Devil.

“I sold my soul
        to keep this love
                 the only love
                        I’ll ever know.”

Full scale is the best view!

I’ve been wanting to do a few projects with face paint for awhile now. I just painted my hand then pressed it to where I wanted the print to be and filled in any holes using a paintbrush. I whited out the eye, added splatter detailing to the bottom, adjusted some brightness/contrast, then put a white overlay on it in CS5. It came out exceptionally well considering this is one of the first full photo manipulation projects I’ve done.

Photography/modeling/editing is all done by me.

Kuchisake-onna

Kuchisake-onna

Clutching her bag she looked to the sky, “The suns setting already?”, Rin exclaimed, skipping down the stairs and across the school’s courtyard as she began to make her way home.
Turning the corner she encountered a woman who walked in a peculiar way. Rin thought nothing of it and continued on, until she came closer.

“Good evening.”, Rin said in a low tone as she tried to quickly pass by. The woman turned to her and stared with an eerie glare before saying, “Am I beautiful?”. Rin stopped and turned to the woman upon hearing such a quaint question.
She worn a beautiful old dark blue kimono with a white floral pattern and surgical mask. Her hair was long, dark, and messy covering parts of her face. Rin stuttered to say, “Y-Yes.”.
The woman inched closer and began to remove her mask to reveal a gruesome disfigurement. A large gash stretched from one ear to the other leaving her jaw hanging. “Even like this!?”, she yelled.
With wide eyes, Rin stumbled back screaming in horror. The woman took another step towards Rin as she pulled out a pair of old, blood stained scissors.
Thinking of such horror that would be done, thinking she did not wish to die, Rin threw her bag at the woman and turned to run. she didn’t dare look to see if the woman followed.
Panting as she continued to run down the narrow darkened streets for what seemed like forever. she turned the corner and to her horror there the woman stood, “but how?”, she gasped.

Rin turned to run again, tripping over the sidewalks edge she fell to the pavement. Rolling on her back she met the gaze of the woman’s cold eyes. Quickly crawling away her back hit the wall and the woman started to walk forward. Rin screamed “NO! Please!”, trying to plea with the woman, to beg for her life, but she did not stop.
Leaning over she raised the scissors in the air and with a quick thrust pierced Rin’s stomach. She screamed in agony, gripping at the woman’s kimono, trying to push her away, but she only continued to cut through her pale flesh. Blood came gushing out, painting the street as Rin was slowly cut in two.
The woman rose up still glaring at Rins face with her vacant eyes. Putting on her surgical mask she watched as Rin took a final breath.
The woman then turned to wonder back into the darkness, where she would continue to walk the streets looking for yet another victim.

Kuchisake-onna (slit-mouthed woman) is a woman who is mutilated by a jealous husband and returns as a malicious spirit in Japanese urban legends. Popular in the 70s-80s.

If you were a child walking alone at night she would stop you to ask, “Am I beautiful” if you answered no she would kill you, if you answered yes she would remove her mask. After showing you her disfigured face she would ask, “Even like this?”, if you were to answer yes she would cut your mouth like hers. If you answered no she would cut you in half.

Kinda like pedo bear, but with scissors and a murderous rage.

I was just doing some reading up on mythology and legends from Japan for a tattoo I am wanting and came across this. After peaking my interest (such a horror freak) I thought I’d write a quick story and draw what I’d think the woman coming for me would be like.
I haven’t written in a long time. It was a little difficult to at first, so sorry if I failed to entertain you.
I had fun thinking of new events and playing them out in my head, and since Rin failed to answer the second question I felt it necessary to cut her in half. While writing this I giggled at her attempt to stop the ghost by throwing her bag at it too. I probably would have done the same or punched her in the face, you know, whatever works.

Done in ArtRage3 and CS5 (background)

And the stars began to peek through

Nature can be awesome too..

Here is a small collection of some of the photography I took over the summer. Some of these are in America, some in Japan. :3

“Burning Your Eyes”  Tokyo, Japan - 2011

“Strawberry Popsicle” Tokyo, Japan - 2011

“The Road” Tokyo, Japan - 2011

“Lillian? Why?” St. Louis, MO - 2011

“Peaches” St. Louis, MO - 2011

“Buzz” St. Louis, MO - 2011

This is just a very small collection of the hundreds of photos I have laying around, many of which have not been seen by anyone. I have a few cherry blossom pictures I’ll put up in another post, oh la la!

Oh and btw, that bee was huge and I was about 5in away from it. I pretty much risked my life to share such beauty, where is my cookie?!

Grim Affair

“Darkness fills me

Your hand in front of me

The only light I see

Reaching out

You fade quietly

Falling to my knees

Tears flowing down my cheeks

Our love dying

Is this the end of me?”

Que dramatic exit! ~
I keep a regular notebook next to my bed, with a pretty awesome picture of Big Bird wearing glasses that reads, “Geek out with your beak out!”. Makes me chuckle oh so nerdly, :3 I use it when I come up with rhymes or poems.

Since most of what I think of are when I’m half asleep, I would forget to write them down before I passed out and fail to remember it in the morning - grrr. Frustrates me to no end when I can’t remember something, especially when it wasn’t even that long ago!

This poem is one of the first ones I’ve ever written in this book. This one is clearly about heartache (so emo), and I believe it to be one of my better ones as well. I’m sure I will post more in the future, though there will be few.

The photo is just a snap of me that I edited in corel.
Both the photo and poem belong to me so don’t re-post it without giving credit or I’ll find you and show you what a prison shanking is like, jk lol, no but really. :|

Liquid Fire

Ugh, such a long day. I don’t sleep well anymore :/ Heres some unhappiness poured into art.

“The taste of you burns me,
and I keep coming for more.”

Another AR3 project-
Took a little more time than I usually do on this project. Total of 4hrs with 15 layers. The picture was reworked from a 5min sketch I did while listening to some music.
I’am thinking of doing a few more like this two or three, but with a little more color in them - One rainbow colored even. Enjoy and check out my art page for more www.akaryu8707.deviantart.com

ArtRage 3

I tested out ArtRage 3 and found it simple to use. I like a lot of the features in it and the textures of the tools. One thing I found annoying was when you save these files, they are saved to a special format. After saving these you can export them to open them into another program. I don’t understand the need for this extra step, but I don’t like it. boooo! lol

I drew my boyfriend, Eji, and I love it! :3 I thought it came out well. The figure is done in AR3 with the watercolor brush. I used 7 layers to make this piece. The background I could not do in AR3, I used CS5 and a splatter brush set I’ve had for a while now. I’m not sure if you can dl brush sets, I’m sure its possible, but I will have to find some. The program does not come with many and are all pretty average.

Machida is a large city in Tokyo with about a half a million people living there alone. Its quite an interesting city to visit, especially if you’re an avid shopper! As soon as you step out of the train station you are surrounded by huge buildings that house hundreds of shops ranging from clothing to, well….pretty much everything! Maybe not people…or maybe, I was not in the basement levels…anyways enjoy!
